Pertamina considering to turn kerosene into jet fuel

State owned oil and gas company Pertamina is considering to process part of the company's kerosene stocks into jet fuel in a bid to reduce the oversupply in the domestic market.

Djaelani Sutomo, the head of Pertamina's division for fuel production, said that turning kerosene into jet fuel would provide added value of at least Rp 500 per litter. "If we decide to choose this option, we will find no difficulties because technologically Pertamina will be able to carry out the job," he said.

He said that Pertamina was also considering to re-export the kerosene in order to reduce the oversupply of the highly subsidized kerosene.

He ruled out the possibility of reducing the kerosene production despite the over supply. "If the kerosene production is lowered, there could be a problem in the production of other fuels," he added. (godang)
