Pertamina cuts Pertamax prices by 14 percent

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina announced the prices of Pertamax and Pertamax Plus falls by an average 14 percent thanks to the declining trend of fuel at the international market.

Based on a Decision Letter of PT Pertamina?s Director for Marketing and Trade, No. 533/F0000/2006-SO, dated September 18, 2006, the price of Pertamax Plus falls by 14.7 percent to Rp 5,550 per litter from Rp 6,000 per litter and the price of Pertamax by 14.5 percent to Rp 5,350 from Rp 5,900 per litter. The price of of its diesel DEX has also dropped by 2.7 percent.

Pertamina?s spokesman Toharso said that the company?s move to lower the price was primarily aimed to ease the pressure of the public consumption of subsidized fuel. (godang)
