Pertamina delays Balongan refinery turnaround on Plaju failure

Friday, August 1 2003 - 11:16 AM WIB

State oil and gas company Pertamina said Friday it had decided to postpone its plan to shut down Balongan refinery in West Java for two weeks from the originally planned August 8 because Plaju refinery in South Sumatra had failed to resume operation Thursday.

?Yesterday (Thursday), Plaju refinery failed to resume operation so that we decided to delay shutting down Balongan," Pertamina downstream director Muchsin Bahar told Petromindo.Com.

Pertamina planned to shutdown the Balongan refinery for routine maintenance.

Muchsin further said the Plaju refinery is expected to function normally again in three or four weeks.

The Balongan and Plaju refineries have capacity of 125,000 barrels per day (BPD) and 135,200 BPD, respectively. (godang)
