Pertamina delays Plaju refinery overhaul

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina has delayed plans to overhaul its Plaju refinery in South Sumatra on worries over the high oil prices.

?We initially planned to overhaul the refinery in June. But we have delayed the plan due to the high oil prices,? Pertamina?s downstream director Suroso Atmowiloto said on Friday.

If the refinery is turned around, Pertamina will have to import more fuels to meet the local demands. Fuel prices have been soaring in recent weeks due to the nuclear tension in Iran.

The Plaju refinery has the processing capacity of 120,000 barrels of oil per day. (Godang)
