State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has delayed the schedule for the turnaround of its Dumai oil refinery in Riau Province from the initial plan of April 2017 to around June, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Pertamina Processing Director Toharso as saying that the routine maintenance of the Dumai refinery, which has a capacity of 175,000 bpd, will now be implemented after the Moslem Idul Fitr festivity.

?The Dumai refinery was supposed (to enter turnaround) in April, but it?s close to the Ramadhan fasting month, so we delayed it to June, a week after the Idul Fitr,? he said, but did not say when the routine maintenance will be completed.

Toharso said that Pertamina is currently conducting routine maintenance of a unit of the Balikpapan refinery in East Kalimantan with capacity of 200,000 bpd. He said that the planned routine maintenance of another unit, with capacity of 60,000 bpd, has been delayed again to 2018 from April 2017.

Meanwhile, PT Trans Pacific Petroleum Indotama (TPPI) plans to conduct routine maintenance of its refinery in September of 2017. Pertamina owns a 48 percent stake in the refinery. Toharso, however, said that the planned turnaround of the TPPI refinery is still under discussion particularly regarding the cost. The TPPI refinery has not undergone routine maintenance for the past 11 years. (*)
