State oil and gas firm Pertamina Monday denied reports that it had used euro in its oil and gas transactions.

?It is not true that Pertamina has used euro in its transactions,? its spokesperson M. Harun told Petromindo.Com.

Harun said however that Pertamina could use euro, instead of American dollar or others, if its business partners approve it.

Early on Monday, the vice chairman of the country?s upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS, Kardaya Warnika, was quoted as saying that Pertamina could use euro in its transactions if it could win approval from its business partners.

Earlier, Pertamina?s director of downstream operations, Muchsin Bahar, said that it was considering the use of euro in its crude import transactions in a bid to avoid the impact of the boycott launched by the United States. (godang)
