Energy and Mineral Resources Deputy Minister Susilo Siswoutomo has asked PT Pertamina EP Asset-2 to increase its production in order to raise Indonesia?s oil lifting.
The production increase can be made by improving its production process and by drilling new wells that have been planned by Pertamina EP for this year.
"Pertamina is currently the second largest producer. But I hope it will continue to increase its total production, while further improving its management,? he said during his working visit to PT Pertamina EP Asset-2 Region Sumatera on Friday, 19th July 2013.
The working area of Pertamina EP Asset-2 consists of the fields of Pendopo, Prabumukih, and Limau. Its current production is at 22,000 barrels of oil per day, and gas at 450 mmscfd, and 388 mmscfd of shale gas.
The production increase can be realized by developing injection wells, because the oil and gas production working area comprises of 90 percent water.
The deputy minister noted that the production increase can be made in two stages. The first, by increasing the facilities to support the flow of fluids. And the second, by increasing the contents of oil and gas through injections of water, steam, or surfactant. ?There is still ample opportunity to raise the production,? he said.
To support the production increase, he also asked the local administration to facilitate the process of licensing the explorations and exploitation activities of Pertamina EP Asset-2 in the area.
PT Pertamina EP Operation and Production Director Satoto Agustono said that Pertamina EP Asset-2 has planned for this year to develop 22 new wells, and 18 maintenance wells.
?With additional facilities, raising production up to 10 percent will be likely and with the additional 22 new wells, hopefully there would be a production increase of about 4,000 barrels within this year,? said Satoto.
