PT Pertamina EP, an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, announced on Friday it has started drilling of the Kuang (KAG)-A2 development well within the Paku Gajah Development Project in South Sumatra.

The company said in a statement that it deploys rig from PDSI EMSCO D2 for the drilling program, which is expected to be completed in 35 days.

Kuang (KAG)-A2 well, located in Ogan Komering Ulu regency, is the second well drilled in the Paku Gajah Development Project this year, out of the target to drill six wells, said Pertamina EP Public Relations Manager, Muhammad Baron in the statement.

Baron said that the drilling program costs about US$1.5 million, and is expected to produce 1.5 mmscfd of gas and 7.8 barrels of condensate per day (bcpd).

Average gas production at the Paku Gajah Development Project currently stands at about 45 mmscfd, and condensate at 1,000 bcpd, he said, adding that the project is targeted to be on stream in March 2017.
