Pertamina EP conducting 2D seismic on Kemundan

PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, is currently conducting the 2D seismic survey on Kemundan Block in Bird-head area, West Papua, as part of the implementation of the exploration program of the project, a company executive said.

?2D seismic survey is being carried out in Kemundan. The survey will be followed by drilling of (exploration) wells next year,? President Director of Pertamina EP, Syamsu Alam told Petromindo.com.

He noted the Kemundan Block's location is quite remote, so it will not be easy to find rig to conduct drilling.

Pertamina EP was awarded the block on September 17, 2005, with contract period spanning until September 16, 2035. The block covers an area of 1,581 square kilometers.
