The general manager of Pertamina EP?s business unit UBEP Sangasanga Tarakan, Herutama Trikoranto, said on Wednesday that the production at the field had reached 8,600 barrels per day (bpd) as of September, 2011, doubled from 4,300 bpd when the company took over the field on October 15, 2008.
He said in a media statement that the production can be further increased to 15,000 bpd by 2016. In 2011, the average production at the Sangasanga Tarakan field reached 7,690 bpd, 27 percent above the target. This year, the company expects to increase the average production to 8,144 bpd.
Herutama contributed the increase in the production to the increase in infrastructure facilities and the reactivation of several suspended wells in the field.
This year, UBEP SangasangaTarakan, which directly operates the field, plans to drill 16 more wells and reopening of 60 old wells in Lousiem Nonny and Samoja areas, he said.
?With this program, we hope production could be increased to 8,144 bpd in 2012,? he added.
