Pertamina EP in cooperation with universities on its EOR program

PT Pertamina EP said it is working in cooperation with a number of universities including Bandung Institute of Technology, Bogor Institute of Agriculture, Gajah Mada University and UPN Jogyakarta, to evaluate results of the company?s enhanced oil recovery (EOR) program.
The universities help the company in analyzing the structure of land and methodology to be used in the application of EOR in particular fields, Agus Amperianto, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina EP, Agus Amperianto, told Petromindo.com.
He said based on screening or evaluation undertaken by the teams from those universities, EOR programs will be prioritized in the following fields, namely Rantau field (water flooding method), Tempino (water flooding), Kenali Asam (water flooding), Bajubang (surfactant chemical injection), Limau (Alkaline surfactant polymer), Talang Jimar (water flooding), Jabibarang (CO2 flooding), Nglobo (water flooding), Kawengan (water flooding), Bunyu (water flooding), Tanjung (surfactant) and Tapian Timur (water flooding).
The EOR technology will be applied to in those aging fields as a move to ramp up the company?s oil production, which is currently hovering around 125,000 barrels of oil per day.
He noted Pertamina EP has submitted the plan of further development (POFD) for implementing EOR in three fields ie. Rantau, Tapian Timur in South Kalimantan and Jambi. ?Pertamina EP has secured approval from BPMIGAS to conduct field trial surfactant flooding in Tanjung field which is scheduled to begin in April 2012,? Agus said.
