Another Pertamina subsidiary, Pertamina EP Business Unit (UBEP) Limau has also raised production to 9,678 BOPD from initially 6,000 BPOD, while UBEP Sangsasana in Tarakan increased production to 7,505 BOPD, exceeding the initial target of 4,300 BPOD.
Pertamina EP operational director Tony Harisman said the company?s production accounted for 76 percent of the total oil production of its parent, state-owned Pertamina. It also accounted for 82 percent of Pertamina?s total gas production.
He said on Monday the company would continue to take ?optimization measures? to cover up the natural 18 percent declining output rate.
Tony said Pertamina EP would play a crucial role in the efforts to increase national oil and gas production in the future.
He acknowledged that 80 percent of the company?s wells are aging, but it will drill 155 more wells across the country this year.
Pertamina EP production averages 123,000 BOPD, making it as the second largest producer in the country.
Obstacles to the company's efforts to boost production are identified as security threat, theft and conflicting forestry regulations issued by the central and regional governments. (godang)
