Production at Pertamina?s Sanga Sanga field in Tarakan, East Kalimantan has reached 8,022 barrels per day (BPD), exceeding the current target of 6,070 bpd, Kontan reported on Monday.

Satoto Agustono, Pertamina EP?s general manager for the operation of the Sanga-Sanga field, said last week that the production saw a significant increase following the operation of North Kutai Lama (NKL) 1015 well.

He said that although the peak production had passed 8,000 bpd, the average production as of early this month was 6,789 bpd, eight percent above this year?s target.

Pertamina EP took over the operation of the Sanga Sanga field in October, 2008 after the technical assistance contract awarded to Pertamina-Medco Kalimantan expired. The production was only 4,300 bpd when the field was operated by Pertamina-Medco joint operation body. (*)
