Pertamina EP says production begins picking up

PT Pertamina EP (PEP), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said its oil production began picking up in late February and expects that the trend to continue next month.
Agus Amperianto, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina EP, said the company's oil production stood at an average of 124,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) in February, which is still below the company?s target for this year of 135,000 bopd.
On February 27, the company?s production rose to 128,000 bopd, supported partly by additional production from Bunyu field (BN-24 well) of 2000 bopd. ?We hope this will be followed by our other fields,? Agus told Petromindo.com.
On February 27, the upstream authority BPMIGAS called on Pertamina EP to increase production to meet its 2012 target of 135,000 bopd.
Director of Operation of PEP, Bagus Sudaryanto, said PEP has made efforts to ramp up production to meet the 2012 target by speeding up implementation of 2012 programs.
The programs include accelerating the drilling of wells in Sukowati, Bunyu, Sanga-Sanga and and Limau fields; speeding up the procurement of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) in Udang Natuna field at the east of Natuna island; accelerating putting on production the new exploration wells, and a number of other initiatives such as reactivating aging fields.
