Pertamina EP says Sangatta production in decline

PT Pertamina EP Eastern Indonesia said that it expected a production decline from its Sangata Block in East Kalimantan up to about 55 percent if there was no effort taken to arrest the trend.

Pertamina EP General Manager for eastern Indonesia, Satoto Agustono, said that now production from Sangatta was only at 1,670 bopd, as compared to the normal level of between 1,700 and 2,000 bopd. It will decline further if the company does not take any necessary efforts to increase production from existing wells and new wells.

"Sangatta Block can be declining up to about 55 percent. We?ll do more drillings and fracturing during the second half of this year,? he told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that due to the production decline, his company had decided to undertake services for its well equipment. ?We?ll also conduct fracturing in the zones recently drilled, and optimizing the existing wells,? he said.

According to him, the Sangatta Block has a total of 210 wells, consisting of 85 production wells, 15 injection wells, and the rest are exploration wells.
