Pertamina EP seeks to regain 104 wells from illegal drillers

PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, aims to regain around 104 production oil wells at the Ramba Field, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, from the hands of illegal drillers under an ongoing crackdown operation that is expected to last until Thursday, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
The paper quoted Pertamina EP Public Relations Manager, Muhammad Baron as saying that since the operation started on Sunday, the company has managed to regain 23 wells.
He added that the crackdown involved local police and administration. He said that the company has also prepared economic measures to help local individuals whose income would be affected by the measure.
Baron said that regaining back the production wells is important for the company as it has suffered reserves losses of between 1,000-1,500 bpd from the illegal drilling activities. (*)
