PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said its production rose 103 percent for the 2007 January – May period, Koran Tempo reported Friday.

Pertamina EP’s president director EP Kun Kurnely said that currently, the company’s average production reaches 103,400 barrel per day (bpd) but efforts are underway to boost production to 130,000 bpd until the end of 2007.

According to him, the oil production was the result of its own efforts, not the outcome of a cooperation with other companies. “We operate and produce it,” he said.

Kun explained that currently Pertamina EP operates a number of oil blocks/fields in Sumatra region, West Java and eastern region. “ West Java region is the largest contributor to our oil production,” he pointed out.

Oil blocks and fields with significant production level in West Java region include Jati Barang, Pondok Tengah and Tambun fields.

Data compiled by the daily showed that Pertamina EP’s oil production is 15,957 bpd from Sumatra region, 38,027 bpd from West Java and 4,417 from the eastern region.

The company also produces 2,300 bpd from its business unit in Jambi, 6,500 bpd from its unit in Limau, and 4,800 bpd from its Tanjung unit. (*)
