Pertamina EP shuts down 17 illegal oil wells in S. Sumatra

Upstream company PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, started on Wednesday the process to shut down 17 illegal oil wells at the Ramba field, in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province.

?Technically, the closure of the 17 (illegal) oil wells started today,? said Pertamina EP Public Relations Manager, Muhammad Baron on Wednesday.

He said that the shut-down of the illegal wells was made by a joint team which includes the police, the military, and local administration security force following coordination with related offices including the provincial administration, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, upstream authority SKK Migas, and Pertamina.
