Pertamina EP signs gas sales contracts

Minister inaugurates household gas network

Pertamina EP has secured long-term contracts worth about US$1.47 million to provide gas supply to two companies in Bekasi and Depok, West Java for household distribution.

Under the sales purchase agreements signed on Wednesday, Pertamina EP would provide gas supply of 50,000 standard cubic feet (MSCFD) to PT Sinergi Patriot Bekasi for five years, and another 100,000 MSCFD to PT Jabar Energi also for five years.

PT Sinergi Patriot Bekasi will pipeline the gas to households in the Bumi Bekasi Baru housing complex, while PT Jabar Energi will distribute the gas to households in Beji sub-district, Depok.

Pertamina EP's senior executive Syamsu Alam said the gas would be supplied from the company?s Region Java area.

Meanwhile, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Darwin Z. Saleh inaugurated on Wednesday the operation of city gas networks in various areas across the country.

City gas networks have been developed in Tarakan, East Kalimantan; Bekasi, Depok, both in West Java; and Sidoarjo regency in East Java in 2010. In Tarakan, the city gas network has been built in karang Balik and Sebengkok sub-districts with a total of 3,366 connections; in Bekasi to in Bojong Rawalumbu housing complex with a total of 1,800 connections; in Depok in Beji and Beji Timur subdistricts with a total of 4,000 connections; and in Sidoarjo in Ngingas and Wedoro villages with a total of 4,000 connections.

The gas in Tarakan is supplied by PT Medco E&P Indonesia, in Bekasi and Depok by PT Pertamina EP and in Sidoarjo by Lapindo Brantas Inc.

For this year, several MoUs on city gas will be signed, respectivel by Total E&P for households in Bontang; by Energy Equity Epic (Sengkang) for households in Sengkang; and by PT Perusahan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk for low-cost apartments in the Greater Jakarta area. (godang)
