Pertamina EP successfully kills S. Sumatra gas, mud outburst

PT Pertamina EP, an upstream unit of state oil, gas company PT Pertamina, has successfully uncontrolled mud and gas outburst at an old well in South Sumatra by drilling a relief well.
The company said on Monday that the Merbau crater at MBU-04 well had been killed on September 14, 2009 and the relief well MBU-1.4RW declared as suspended well.
It took the company 172 days to kill the crater.(bernard)
