Pertamina EP to implement EOR in two fields

PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina, plans to carry out enhance oil recovery (EOR) program in two fields, namely Tanjung and Kaji Semoga fields in South Sumatra, in the latter part of this year.

?The (EOR) program in Tanjung field is scheduled for September, while in Kaji Semoga field in October,? Pertamina EP President Director Syamsu Alam told Petromindo.com Monday.

Upstream authority BPMIGAS Deputy for Planning, Widiyawan Prawiraatmadja has earlier said that there were three EOR programs expected to be implemented in the latter part of this year including in Chevron Pacific Indonesia?s Minas field in Riau in October, and in Tanjung and Kaji Semoga fields.

?The main obstacles are funding, technology and human resources,? he said last year.

The EOR programs being applied in several oil and gas fields in the country are expected to help increase production, thus arresting the declining trend.
