Pertamina EP to resume drilling at Bambu Besar-2 well

PT Pertamina EP will immediately resume exploration drilling activities at the Bambu Besar-2 well in the Rengas Dengklok block, in West Java, as situation has turned conducive following recent protest from the local community.

The company plans to spud the BBS-2 well this evening, said Public Relations Manager of Pertamina EP, Agus Amperianto. ?The plan is to spud the BBS-2 well this evening. The situation has become conducive,? Agus told Petromindo.com Monday.

The company should have spudded the well on August 16. But it has been forced to temporarily stop drilling activities due to local protest.

Agus said that the company has finally managed to approach the local villagers, providing compensation funds for the noise and other environmental impact caused by the drilling activities. He did not disclose the amount of the funds.
