Pertamina EP to start EOR project at Cepu fields this month

PT Pertamina EP is expected to start this month the joint development of four oil and gas fields in the Cepu block with PT Geo Cepu Indonesia, Kontan daily reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Geo Cepu director Gunawan Hadi Saputra as saying that Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has approved last month the work plan and budget for the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project.

As previously reported by this paper, PT Pertamina has appointed Geo Cepu, a local unit of a Chinese firm, to help Pertamina EP in developing four fields in Cepu block including Nglobo, Kawengan, Ledok and Semanggi. The Chinese firm is deemed to have the experience and expertise in carrying EOR technology to optimize production in the four fields.

Gunawan said that the technology and chemical materials to be used in the EOR project are still undergoing test at the laboratory.(*)
