Pertamina expects Sarawak discovery to commence production 2008

State oil and gas company Pertamina expects oil production from Sarawak discovery could commence late 2008.

Pertamina EP president Kun Kurnaely said on Wednesday that the SK 305 block offshore Sarawak might be able to produce oil at a rate of 25,000 barrels per day. Kun said appraisal drillings on Dana-1 discovery would be conducted starting this year. Pertamina EP is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pertamina.

Dana-1 well flowed 3.072 barrels of oil per day from 40/64-inch choke. The well was drilled to the depth of 3,330 meters in January 2006.

The block is operated under the three parties Joint Operating Company (JOC) called PCPP, where Petronas has 40% equity, while Pertamina and PetroVietnam have a 30% stake each.

Block SK305 is located in water depth of 150 metres in Balingian, offshore Sarawak, covering an area of about 15,164 sq kilometres. (alex)
