State oil and gas company PT Pertamina has exported 8,000 kiloliters of marine fuel oil (MFO) of 380 centistoke (cst)type worth US$ 4 million to Singapore, which is the firm's first export of the fuel, Investor Daily reported Saturday.

Toharso, President Director of PT Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of Pertamina, said in Batam Friday that Pertamina is expected to produce 500,000 kiloliters of 380 cst MFO this year.

?In the next five years, we hope to control 10 percent of the 380 cst MFO market in the Malacca Strait. Singapore is now controlling the market, selling around 2 million kiloliters (per year),? he said.

According to Toharso, the absence of the Indonesian standard for MFO 380 cst has prompted the company to follow the international standard for the fuel. ?I have asked the directorate general of oil and gas to issue a MFO 380 specification,? he said.

The 380 cst MFO exported to Singapore was jointly produced by Pertamina and PT Patra Niaga in the Kabil Batam Depot.

The Kabil Batam Depot has a production capacity of 30,000 kiloliters of 380 cst MFO per month. (*)
