Pertamina extends LNG sales contract to Japan

State owned oil and gas company Pertamina has extended the contract for the sales of natural liquefied gas (LNG) from its Arun LNG plant in Aceh to two Japanese buyers, Tohuku Eelectric Power and Tokyo Electric Power.
Under an agreement signed in Jakarta on Monday, the sales contracts which would end in December 2004 will be extended until December 2009 with an annual purchase of one million tons.
The two Japanese companies, which signed its first contract with Pertamina in 1984, has so far bought 3.5 million tons of LNG from Pertamina a year. (*)
