State oil and gas company PT. Pertamina said on Thursday it was eyeing stake at Chevron Corp.?s deepwater blocks offshore East Kalimantan.

Pertamina Deputy Director Upstream Tri Siwindono told Petromindo.Com that the company is seeking to get 10 percent participating interest in Rapak and Ganal PSCs.

Tri said that the interest in the blocks is in line with regulation that allows Indonesian company to acquire 10 percent interest in any block prior to being developed.

Ganal PSC contains Gehem and Gendalo gas discoveries, while Rapak has Ranggas gas discovery.

Chevron, which has 80 percent interest in both blocks, is planning to bring discoveries in both blocks into production around 2013, according to a BPMIGAS official.

Tri said that thus far, Chevron had not responded to Pertamina?s proposal.(godang)
