Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), an upstream unit of state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, is eying one of four large oil fields that the Iraqi government is planning to offer to investors in an international tender.

PHE?s International Director Dwi Martono said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the oil field eyed by the firm "used to produce up to 200,000 barrels per day before it was shut down."

He did not explain when and why the field was shut down.

Dwi said PHE had passed the prequalification process to take part in the tender. ?The winner of the tender will be announced by the end of this year,? he said.

He said that PHE would invite Petronas of Malaysia and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to jointly develop the oil block. (godang)
