State oil and gas company PT.Pertamina has ramped up production from Sanga-sanga and Tarakan working area onshore East Kalimantan and is eyeing for further increase, a company official said.
Pertamina EP PR Manager M. Heron told Petromindo.Com on Thursday that the block, which was taken over from Medco Energi Internasional after its contract expired in 2008, was producing at 5,043 BPD, higher than 4,300BPD production when Pertamina took over the block?s operations on October 14, 2008.
Pertamina EP is an upstream arm of Pertamina.
Harun said the block, which had been producing oil for more than 100 years, had potential to increase production above 5,000 BPD as it was still in primary recovery stage.
Harun also said Pertamina would restart gas production from the block by reactivating dormant wells. (godang)
