Pertamina fails in Iran block tender

Monday, November 26 2007 - 08:00 AM WIB

State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has failed in the tender for Iran's Laleh exploration block located in Persian Gulf.

Pertamina?s President Director Ari Soemarno said on Monday that Pertamina ended second in the tender result announced a few weeks ago, without naming the winner.

?But right now Iran government is studying to cooperate with Pertamina but the form of the cooperation still too early to say,? he said.

Last month Pertamina's Upstream Director Sukusen Soemarinda said that Pertamina and an undisclosed partner were bidding for Laleh Block.

According to National Iranian Oil Company website, the block was one of the blocks the company offered in 2007. The website further says the winner of the block will be required to spend a minimum on 37 million euros on the block. (Bernard)
