Pertamina finds new gas reserves in Central Sulawesi

State oil and gas company Pertamina said it had found new gas reserves in Donggi structure, Luwuk Banggai regency in Central Sulawesi.

The new gas find has a total of 880 billion cubic feet of proven gas reserves and 3.4 trillion cubic feet of probable gas reserves, Pertamina's upstream director Iin Arifin Takhyan said on Tuesday.

If that amount of gas reserves is combined with another new gas find by local production sharing contractor PT Exspan in nearby Tomori block, totaling 5 trillion cubic feet, that would be enough to feed one train of liquefied natural gas plant.

"If the new gas find by Pertamina and the recent gas find by Exspan, these new found gas reserves would be enough to build one train of LNG plant in Central Sulawesi," Iin said.

The integrated evaluation for the new finds would be conducted by Pertamina's Joint Operating Body and Exspan in Tomori Block. The next program would be conducting 3D seismic surveys on Donggi structure, and next year, Pertamina would drill three appraisal wells on the field. (godang)
