Pertamina finds new oil reserve in Pondok Makmur field

The company said that the well flowed about 3,600 barrels per day of oil and 5.7 million standard cubic feed per day (MMSCFD) of gas at total depth of 3,450 meters during a trial production.
Director for exploration and development Syamsu Alam said that the exploration in the Pondok Makmur field used a new exploration concept in which drilling was carried out until the base of the well.
He said that three wells at the Pondok Makmur field including PDM-1, PDM-2 and PDM3 wells, had began production with the capacity of 1,900 bpd of oil and 5.5 MMSCFD of gas.
He said production at the PDM-4 well would start soon after it received put on production (PoP) approval from oil and gas regulatory body BPMIGAS. At present, the company is preparing a drilling work for the PDM-E/06 dealination well and, after the well, the company will also drill PDM-D dealination well, which is expected to begin in June this year.
This year, the company plans to drill a total of 26 exploration wells throughout the country, carry out 3-D seismic survey on 1,345 km2 and 2-D survey on 721 km.
Pertamina EP produced about 127,100 bpod of oil and about 1,043 MMSCFD of gas in 2009. This year the company is expected to increase oil production to 128,000 bpod. (godang/bernard)
