Pertamina focuses EOR program on three fields

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) is now focusing its Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) program on three fields, namely Tanjung field in Central Kalimantan province, Jirak field in South Sumatra and Rantau field in South Sumatra using waterflooding method.

The program is still in research phase and starting this month, the research activities are now concentrated in the firm?s Upstream Technology Center (UTC), Amran Anwar, Pertamina?s SVP of Upstream Development & Technology.

Previously, Pertamina carried out cooperation with laboratories of various universities, namely the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB), the Gajahmada University and the Pembangunan Nasional University (UPN) in carrying out the research. Pertamina has however decided to concentrate the activities at its laboratory in UTC.
