Pertamina fuel storage damaged by Papua quake

The 7.1 magnitude quake that struck areas near Biak in Papua province has caused damage on state-owned oil gas firm PT Pertamina?s fuel depot, the company?s top officer said on Wednesday.

President director Karen Agustiwan said the fuel depot in Serui was damaged by the quake but generally fuel stocks in the region are still at safe level, which are enough for 12 days of consumption for Premium gasoline, 27 days for kerosene and 18 days for diesel oil, she said, adding other Pertamina infrastructure in the region is safe

She did not give further details.

Meanwhile, Agus Suryono, a spokesman of upstream oil, gas regulator BPMIGAS said the quake was unlikely to affect BP Plc?s Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in West Papua because the distance is too far. (godang)
