Thursday, September 13 2001 - 02:35 AM WIB

The fuel supply target of 52.7 million kilo liters stated in the 2001 state budget is not realistic as it is still far below the actual demand, according to Pertamina?s president Baihaki Hakim.

Baihaki said that about 80 percent of the target had been realized and the remaining 20 percent would be far from enough to meet the demand for the rest of the year would

?The target of 52.7 million kilo liters is certainly not realistic,? he told reporters during a break at a hearing between the company?s management and the Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR).

He said Pertamina had asked the DPR members to raise the fuel supply above last year?s level of 54.7 million kilo liters for year 2001 but the proposal was rejected.

At the hearing, Pertamina asked the House members to increase in the fuel supply, if not the country would suffer a cute shortage of fuel supply. (*)
