State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) through its international arm PT Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP) has got the approval from Algeria?s upstream oil and gas authority Al Naf (the Algerian equivalent of SKK Migas) for three Reservoir Development Plans (RDP) for EMK field in Block 405A in Algeria.
Pertamina operates the Block 405a, which comprises three oil fields: Menzel Lejmat North (MLN), Ourhoud, and EMK.
Upstream Director of Pertamina Syamsu Alam said recently that RDP is more or less similar to Plan of Development (PoD) in Indonesia.
"Although we were initially pessimistic to get the approval, but thanks PIEP?s tremendous efforts, we finally got the approval from Al Naf," he said, adding following the approval of the EMK field RDPs, Petamina will be able to drill more development wells to increase production starting next year.
According to Syamsu, if all goes well, including the availability of rig, the field?s production may increase to 28,000-30,000 bopd. He however did not provide the current production figures of the field.
"Our activity in Algeria is important, because we can bring to Indonesia the reserve that we find there. Further, two of our subsidiaries, PDSI and Elnusa, work in synergy there,? he said.
