State oil and gas company Pertamina received on Wednesday the International Standardization Organization (ISO) 9001 certificate for its gas transmission network in East Java.
The certificate was awarded by international certification firm ABS Quality Evaluation Inc. to Pertamina's Upstream Director Gatot Karyoso Wiroyudo.
The 430 kilometer, 28-inch pipelines, including 360 kilometers built underwater, connects the Pagerungan island, north of East Java, Porong, and the industrial town of Gresik in East Java.
The pipelines transports gas from the fields owned by Anglo-American energy company BP (Beyond Petroleum) Kengan, South Korean energy firm Kodeco Energy and local firm Lapindo Brantas to consumers in Surabaya and Gresik.
The consumers include state electricity company PT PLN, state fertilizer firm PT Petrokimia Gresik, and state gas distributor PT PGN.
The gas pipeline, which started operation in 1994, supplied 350 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas at present, but the load could be increased to a maximum of 450 MMCFD, Pertamina's spokesman Ridwan Nyak Baik said in a statement. (Godang)
