Pertamina gets Rp 9.3 trillion fuel subsidy

Friday, June 24 2005 - 12:17 PM WIB

The government has transferred a Rp 9.3 trillion fuel subsidy to PT Pertamina?s bank accounts to help the state-owned firm pay for fuel imports, a governmental official said on Friday.

?The funds were transferred today (Friday) through (state owned banks) Mandiri, BRI and BNI,? Marwanto Harjowiryono, spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, said.

The amount includes Rp 8.73 trillion in fuel subsidy for May this year and Rp 618 billion in subsidy arrears for 2003.

Pertamina was facing difficulties to import fuel to meet domestic demands over the past weeks due to the delay in the disbursement of fuel subsidy from the government. This has caused the national fuel stock to drop to 17 days of demand at present, five days less than needed to ensure supplies across the nation. (Godang)
