Pertamina gives name to world?s largest LPG carrier

State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertmina has officially given a name to its giant LPG carrier which is now on the final phase of construction by South Korean firm Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.

Pertamina named the carrier, which is touted the world?s largest, Gas Pertamina 1.

The ship-naming or christening ceremony was held at the Ulsan LPG Terminal in South Korea, Pertamina said in a statement on Friday.

The ceremony was attended among others by Pertamina?s Marketing and Commerce Hanung Budya, Shipping SVP Muhammad Yudhie, Energy Service Director Bambang Irianto, Corporate Secretary Nursatyo Argo.

The US$76 million carrier, which is twice two soccer fields in length, is scheduled to be officially delivered to Pertamina on Sept. 23. The vessel, the 57th owned by Pertamina, will be used to distribute LPG in Indonesia.
