Witnessed by Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan, Pertamina Gas Director Hari Karyuliarto, Solena Executive Vice President Yves Bannel, and PT. Godang Tua Jaya President Director Rekson Sitorus signed a joint development agreement (JDA) on the power plant project in a signing ceremony in Jakarta on Friday.
The JDA was a follow-up of agreement between Pertamina and Godang Tua Jaya dated 8th October 2012.
Based on the JDA, the cooperation will be focusing on conducting a detailed feasibility study on the use of city wastes as feedstocks to produce renewable energy in the form of gasification plasma, which is believed to be able to generate power at 120 MW with waste inputs of 2,000 tons per day.
The project is believed to become a technological breakthrough in solving the problem of city wastes and the problem of power shortage.
The development of the waste-based power plant will need a total investment of about US$300 million and it is expected to start commercial operation in 2016.
?Through this cooperation, Pertamina wants to realize its commitment to become a friend of earth by utilizing the city wastes for energy,? Karen Agustiawan said.
The government has targeted that by year 2025 the use of renewable energy in Indonesia will reach a level of about 25 percent.
