State owned oil and gas firm PT Pertmaina (Persero) goes ahead with plans to participate in the tender for the development of the 2x800 MW PLTGU Jawa 1 combined cycle power plant in Muara Tawar, Bekasi, West Java province.

The firm has expressed disappointment over changes in terms of the contract by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero). Nevertheless, the firm will not cancel its participation in the tender for the project.

?We?ll go ahead with participating in the tender,? President Director Dwi Soetjipto said.

PLN has disappointed the firm by obliging bidders to use gas from the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua province for the power plant. It seems that Pertamina and partners would like to use gas from other sources for the project. PLN has scheduled bid submission for the project for July 25, 2016.

Pertamina earlier lamented the move by PLN to change the gas supply requirement when the tender process has already started. The firm said that PLN should have made the decision early on, citing that Pertamina had already spent US$1.5 million in making initial feasibility of the study. The firm said if PLN had decided early on that the project must supply the gas from Tangguh, Pertamina would not have included Total in the consortium.

Pertamina is teaming up with Marubeni Corp and Total & Gas Power in the tender for the project.
