State oil and gas company Pertamina guarantees that fuel supply for the domestic market will be enough for the coming months when Indonesians face the Islamic fasting month and the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The one-month fasting, starting in mid November, will end with the celebration of the Idhul Fitri holiday.
?We will take anticipatory measures namely make sure that fuel production will continue to go smoothly, and prepare our refineries so they can boost their production if the demand increases sharply,? Pertamina president director Baihaki Hakim told reporters on Tuesday.
Another measure would be importing fuel from Singapore, Baihaki said, adding that fuel prices were falling on the world market following the drop in crude prices.
Presently, Pertamina is capable to maintain its fuel supply for the domestic market for every period of 22-23 days, compared with the 25-day period demanded by the government. (leo)
