State oil and gas firm Pertamina said on Friday it had no plan to shut down its oil mining operations in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, saying such rumors were precisely the opposite of the facts.
The spokesman of Pertamina?s Sangatta office, Aman Munash, said his company was continuing to drill new oil wells in Sangatta and that it still had 60 productive oil wells in the area.
?It is not true that Sangatta?s Pertamina will shut down its operation,? Aman was quoted by Kaltim Post as saying.
Aman said his company so far had delivered to Balikpapan, also in East Kalimantan, some 100.000 barrels of oil from Sangatta every one and half month.
He admitted however that Pertamina currently had only 75 workers at its Sangatta office. Some 100 workers had been transferred to Balikpapan. (*)
