State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to lead a ceremony this week on the inauguration and signing of the company?s refinery projects.

This includes the inauguration of the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) facility at the Cilacap refinery in Central Java, the groundbreaking of the Langit Biru Cilacap (LBC) refinery, and to witness the signing of the Head of Agreement (HOA) between Pertamina and Saudi Arabian oil giant Saudi Aramco to upgrade its refineries under the so-called Refining Development Masterplan Program (RDMP) in Cilacap.

"We plan that the president would give his time this week to inaugurate the refinery facilities, including the inauguration of the RFCC Cilacap, groundbreaking of the LBC refinery, and the signing of the HOA between Pertamina and Saudi Aramco for RDMP Cilacap," Vice President of Corporate Communications Wianda Pusponegoro said Tuesday.

She explained that the RFCC Cilacap will produce High Octane Mogas Component (HOMC) 88 at a volume of 30,000 bopd. Meanwhile, the LBC refinery is a project that will produce RON 92 fuel. The RDMP Cilacap aims to increase the refinery capacity to 370,000 bopd.

"So the RDMP first stage consists of Cilacap and Balikpapan refineries. Saudi Aramco will certainly go into the Cilacap refinery project with an investment of nearly US$5 billion,? Wianda said.

The RDMP is targeted be onstream in 2021, but Wianda hopes it will start operation early 2019.
