State oil and gas company Pertamina said Tuesday it planned to develop at least 11 old oil wells in South Sumatra for the next three years and expected additional production of around 50,000 barrels per day.
?We plan to drill the old wells deeper. With our success in Gunung Kemala recently, I think, we would be able to add around 1 billion oil reserve to Pertamina when we finish to drill all the wells. Therefore, I am optimistic we could add 50,000 BPD to our production in the next three years,? said Pertamina president Baihaki Hakim.
Pertamina has recently discovered some 230 million barrels in oil reserves in Gunung Kemala and according to Baihaki, the discovery could be brought into production within six months. (godang)
