State oil and gas company Pertamina said Wednesday it expects to repair a leak at an oil well located at Babelan, Bekasi Utara, West Java, some 40 kilometers east of Jakarta in the next two days.
Pertamina's spokesman, Muchamad Harun, said the leak from a pipe occurred Tuesday morning, around 30 minutes after the company started first oil production from the well, which is expected to produce around 1,400 barrels a day.
The company has evacuated around 250 villagers who live at the nearby village as a safety precaution, Harun said.(*)
