Pertamina Hulu to apply EOR technology on its oil fields

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, will apply enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology in a number of its oil and gas fields aiming at boosting its oil and gas reserves.

?We are planning to apply EOR technology in Ogan Komering field, BOB (joint operating body) Riau, PHE West Madura Offshore and JOB PPEJ (Pertamina-Petrochina East Java). We are hoping to reach a recovery rate of 10 percent from these fields,? PHE President Director Salis Aprilian told Petromindo.com.

He said currently PHE is conducting testing in CPP Block, operated on the BOB Bumi Siak Pusako, Riau.

?We are conducting lab testing utilizing chemical fluids in the form of surfactant in BOB Riau wells. If the lab testing is successful, we will conduct field test, which will last about 2-3 years,? he said.

The upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS said in June that at least 12 production sharing contractors (PSCs) have committed to using the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology in order to increase their oil production.

The regulator said some PSCs would use chemical injection in their EOR program, while others would use Co2, polymer and steam injection. (godang)
