PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said it will halt the operation of ONWJ fields for maintenance works for three weeks in January 2012.

As a result of the planned shutdown, the gas supply from the block to the state electricity company PT PLN will reduce by 100 MMSCFD.

?We have informed PLN that we will conduct maintenance work for three weeks in order to increase gas supply to gas-fired power plants (PLTG) Muara Karang and Tanjung Priok and Balongan refinery,? General Manager of PHE ONWJ I. Tenny Wibowo told reporters during a site visit on the block.

He said the halt allows PHE ONWJ to conduct maintenance work on APN E and F oil and gas fields. He said if the APN E and F fields produce at full capacity, the gas production of the block will rise by 44 MMSCFD to 200 MMSFD.

Currently Pertamina holds the majority stake of the ONWJ block through its unit PT Pertamina Hulu Energy with 53.25 percent. (godang)
