Pertamina in Sumatra geothermal drilling campaign

Pertamina Geothermal Indonesia, a geothermal unit of state oil and gas company said it had embarked on exploration drilling campaign on two of its geothermal prospects.

CEO Bambang Kustono told reporters on Monday that the company has started drilling a well in Ulubelu project in Sumatra?s Lampung province.

Bambang said the well, which was spudded in August, is the first of the three wells the company planned to drill until the end of this year.

The company will start drilling two wells in Lumut Balai project in south Sumatra next month, Bambang said.

According to Bambang, Pertamina planned to develop a 2x110 MW power plant in each location by partnering with other companies. (bernard)
