State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is currently in talks with overseas gas producers and traders for the possibility of gas supply for the planned Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Central Java.
Senior Vice President for Gas at Pertamina, Nanang Untung said over the weekend that Pertamina will press ahead with plan to develop the FSRU facility despite some questions over the gas supply.
Nanang said that the FSRU is an important project to support gas distribution in the country, and that its gas supply can come from both domestic and overseas sources.
In terms of the possibility of overseas supply, Nanang said, Pertamina is currently in talks with Sonatrach in Algeria, and Qatar.
Traders such as Shell and Gaspromz have also been approached. ?We have contacted more than five traders,? he said.
